The time and location of the next trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, the United States and Russia have not yet been determined. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the decision will depend on security conditions and real diplomatic opportunities.
Ukraine’s delegation held meetings this week in Geneva with representatives of US President Donald Trump, focusing mainly on economic issues and reconstruction. Ukraine continues preparations for the trilateral format.
Zelenskyy noted that developments in the Middle East and the Gulf region are unfolding rapidly, affecting the overall security environment. He recalled that Iran had supplied Russia with Shahed attack drones and related technologies, as well as other weapons. Since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has used more than 57,000 Shahed-type drones against Ukraine, targeting civilians, cities and energy infrastructure, he said.
The president stressed the importance of preventing further escalation and saving as many lives as possible. He also underlined that US resolve plays a key role in weakening global aggressors.
Zelenskyy said he had updated directives for Ukraine’s negotiating and diplomatic teams. Russia must end its aggression against Ukraine and Europe, and security guarantees must be ensured, he added.
Earlier, Zelenskyy had said that the next round of talks could take place in Abu Dhabi in early March. However, a final decision on the date and venue of the meeting has not yet been made.
