Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Kyiv continues to work toward a diplomatic end to the war and is ready for all meaningful formats. According to him, the main problem is that Vladimir Putin is not ready for diplomacy.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a meeting of Ukrainian ambassadors in Kyiv.
The president called on Ukrainian diplomats to consistently and convincingly reject accusations that Ukraine is allegedly interested in prolonging the war.
“It is Ukraine that wants peace. Ukraine has never wanted this war, not for a single day. It is Russia that is doing everything possible to prolong the war and inflict as much damage on people’s lives as possible,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, all leaders who can help the diplomatic process know that Ukraine is ready for meaningful formats.
“Putin is not ready. And that is precisely the problem,” the president stressed.
Zelenskyy noted that there should be no obstacles to the diplomatic path in any influential capital in the world. According to him, when Moscow does not want peace, Washington and Beijing can make it change its position.
The president also emphasized the importance of strengthening European capitals to a level at which Russia will not be able to ignore them. He called this one of the key tasks of Ukraine’s security and political cooperation with its European partners.
