Ukraine is counting on a further strengthening of its air defenses: Germany is expected to deliver new air defense packages this month. The European Union is also considering Kyiv’s request for Patriot missiles worth several billion euros.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Germany was preparing new air defense packages for Ukraine following a conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

During the call, the two leaders also discussed the Russian attack on an airfield in Leipzig and the future Drone Deal. According to Zelenskyy, the teams are finalizing the text of the agreement, which is intended to strengthen the defense capabilities of both Germany and Ukraine.

As “Babel” reports, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Ukraine had submitted a new request to the EU for Patriot missiles worth several billion euros.

According to von der Leyen, EU member states are already considering the request and the process is “moving in the right direction.” The EU and Ukraine are also working together on a European project to develop their own anti-ballistic missile defense system.
