Ukraine is working to create a new defense technology investment fund and is seeking international partners for the initiative. In Washington, Mykhailo Fedorov held a series of meetings with US investors and venture capital funds to discuss attracting capital into Ukraine’s defense tech sector.
Fedorov announced the meetings in a statement.
Among those he met was Nate Fick, director of public equity strategy and senior managing director at Cerberus Capital Management, a global investment firm focused on private capital and strategic investments.
Fedorov noted that Fick has extensive experience in technology, security, public policy and investment. He previously served as the first US Ambassador at Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy and has also worked in technology entrepreneurship.
The Ukrainian delegation also met with Guy Filippelli, founder and managing partner of Squadra Ventures, a US venture capital fund that invests in early-stage technology companies.
The talks focused on Ukraine’s defense tech ecosystem, helping Ukrainian technology companies enter global markets and attracting international capital.
According to Fedorov, one of the key priorities of the meetings is the creation of a new defense technology investment fund.
“We are looking for international partners to bring in capital and expertise and create new companies around technologies that are critically needed on the battlefield today,” he wrote.
Fedorov stressed that the more international investment and expertise Ukraine attracts into its defense tech sector, the faster it will be able to develop and scale technologies that give Ukraine an advantage on the battlefield.
