On October 30, the US State Department approved the possible sale of 500 PAC-3 MSE missiles for Ukraine’s Patriot air defense systems. The estimated $2.1 billion package, including related equipment, will be funded entirely by Ukraine’s partners and allies.

The announcement was made by the US State Department’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs on October 30, 2026.

Ukraine requested the purchase of 500 Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE) missiles. The State Department approved the potential sale, which also includes classified and unclassified PAC-3 MSE spare parts and other elements of logistics and program support.

The package has an estimated total value of $2.1 billion.

The purchase will be financed through contributions from Canada, Germany and Norway under the JUMPSTART program, as well as national funds financed through the European Union’s Ukraine Support Loan. No US funds will be used for the sale.

The State Department said the proposed sale supports US foreign policy and national security objectives by strengthening Ukraine’s security.

The sale is expected to improve Ukraine’s ability to counter current and future threats, strengthen its integrated air and missile defense capabilities, and sustain the operation of existing Patriot systems against aerial attacks. The State Department also said the sale would have no adverse impact on US defense readiness.

The principal contractor will be US defense company Lockheed Martin, based in Bethesda, Maryland.
