The coast of the occupied Crimea continues to suffer from large-scale fuel oil pollution, which is now moving towards Yalta. Along the plume, residents find injured birds, Krym.Realii reports.

According to scientists, the fuel oil slick continues to move along the southern coast of Crimea. It bypasses the Feodosia Bay, Sudak and Alushta and is heading to Yalta.

The oil spill was caused by an oil tanker accident in the Kerch Strait. According to the occupation department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Crimea, more than 226 tons of contaminated soil have been collected from the coast, including more than 7 tons over the past day. At the same time, 861 kilometers of the coastline have been surveyed, including 127 kilometers in the last day alone. Pollution was found even on the city beaches of the Arshynets Spit.

Activists emphasize the need for more effective measures to minimize environmental damage as the scale of the pollution continues to grow.
