President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Russia’s attack on Ukraine on the first day of 2025. On New Year’s Eve, Russia launched 111 attack drones at Ukrainian cities.

Thanks to the efforts of air defense systems, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units, most of the drones were shot down.
“Even on New Year’s night, Russia cares about only about hurting Ukraine. 111 attack drones were launched against our cities. Thanks to our air defense systems, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare teams, the majority of them failed to reach their targets. Unfortunately, at this time, it is known that one person has died. My condolences to the family and loved ones”, – Zelenskyy wrote.
The President expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian defenders working under challenging conditions to protect the country.
“I am grateful to everyone who, no matter the circumstances, serves day and night to protect Ukraine and Ukrainians. To our army, holding back the assaults. To our rescuers, always ready to help anywhere in Ukraine. To all emergency services, our medics, and every man and woman whose job is to save lives”, – Zelenskyy emphasized.
Currently, there is one confirmed fatality, seven injuries, as well as destruction and fires as a result of the attack.
