Neuroscientist Ihor Zyma killed in Russian attack on Kyiv

On January 1, as a result of a Russian drone attack on Kyiv, Doctor of Biological Sciences Ihor Zyma and his wife were killed.

The death of the scientist was reported by business consultant Daria Dushechkina. Her husband, Oleksiy Bobrovnikov, a Ukrainian journalist and first secretary at the Ukrainian Embassy in Kenya, wrote in the morning that Zyma was not in touch.

Ihor Zyma was a professor at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where he taught for over 40 years. His research covered neurophysiology, cognitive mechanisms of the brain, and neuropsychology. He also worked at a medical center specializing in the treatment of people with autism.


Russia launched 111 drones into Ukraine on New Year’s Eve. The wreckage of the enemy UAVs fell in two districts of the capital, Pechersk and Sviatoshyno.

So far, six people have been injured and two killed. According to the State Emergency Service, the rescue operation continues in difficult conditions.
