The situation at the front remains difficult, despite significant losses, the enemy continues to try to break through the defences of Ukrainian troops. This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 16:00 on 4 January.
A total of 107 combat engagements were recorded today.
In the Sumy region, Russian troops launched artillery attacks on the settlements of Oleksandrivka, Pokrovka, Yastrubshchyna and Luhivka.
In the Kharkiv region, the enemy stormed the defensive lines in the area of Starytsia twice – one attack was repelled, another battle is ongoing. The enemy also carried out air strikes on Mali Prokhody, Vovchanski Khutory and Okhrimivka.
In the Kupyansk sector, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops near Zahryzove three times.
In the Liman sector, 11 attacks were registered in the areas of Pershotravneve, Nadiya, Makiivka, Novoyehorivka and Serebryanskyi forest. Four of the attacks are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled seven attacks in the areas of Chasovyi Yar, Bila Hora, Klishchiyivka and Stupochky.
In the Toretsk sector, the enemy made five attacks in the areas of Toretsk, Diliyivka and Shcherbynivka, two of the battles are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk sector, 30 breakthrough attempts were registered. Ukrainian troops repelled 22 attacks in the areas of Myrne, Tymofiivka, Pokrovsk, Novyi Trud and other localities.
In the Kurakhove sector, nine attacks were repelled, and five battles are ongoing.
In the Vremivka sector, the enemy made 11 attacks near Dachne and Yantarne. Two attacks are currently ongoing.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russians tried to advance in the area of Novodanylivka but failed.
In the Kursk region, our troops repelled nine attacks, five battles are ongoing.
No active enemy actions were recorded in the Siverskyi, Prydniprovskyi and Huliaypillia directions.
