The long-range modification of the Ukrainian cruise missile R-360 “Neptune”, known under the unofficial name “Long Neptune”, was officially shown in public for the first time. Its range reaches 1000 km, and the first reports of the use of this weapon appeared back in March of this year.
This is reported by the military portal Defense Express.
A video with the missile was published on the official account of the state portal “Zbroya” on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine. The video shows the missile with X-shaped wings along with other samples of Ukrainian weapons. No technical characteristics were made public, but the range of 1000 km and the purpose for striking ground targets were previously confirmed.
As analysts note, the “Long Neptune” has received an increased length – more than 6 meters without an accelerator, which is one and a half meters more than the standard version of the R-360. The diameter of the central part of the body has also increased – from 38 to about 50 cm, which probably allowed to increase the fuel supply. To compensate for the weight, the developers expanded the area of the wings and tail.
Previously, the warhead of the standard “Neptune” weighed 150 kg, but the parameters of the new missile remain unknown.
