President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia has killed at least 707 Ukrainian children since the start of its full-scale invasion. According to him, thousands of children have also been wounded, abducted, or remain missing.
The statement was made on the Day of Remembrance for Children Killed as a Result of Russia’s Armed Aggression Against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said the day serves as a reminder of “the most painful episodes of the war, the greatest injustice, and the evil committed by Russia,” when the most vulnerable and innocent become victims — children.
“At least 707 Ukrainian children have been killed. Thousands more have been wounded by Russia, abducted, and thousands still have an unknown fate,” the president said.
He stressed that behind the statistics are shattered childhood dreams, plans, and hopes, as well as the pain of parents who have lost their children.
“Our Ukrainian children. Some were only a few days old, some had just started first grade, and some were preparing for graduation. This is who a sick state is fighting against. This is who the so-called second army of the world is confronting after failing to achieve victory on the battlefield and choosing to assert itself against children,” Zelenskyy stated.
The president also called on people to remember every child who has been killed and emphasized the need to protect children and ensure accountability for Russia’s crimes.
“Eternal memory to every child whose life was taken. It is our everlasting duty to remember, to protect our children, and to do everything possible to ensure that the evil brought by Russia is punished,” Zelenskyy concluded.
