Ukraine’s Anna Sheremet won the gold medal in the women’s PR1 single sculls at the 2026 World Rowing Championships. It was Ukraine’s first gold medal of the tournament.

Sheremet finished the final in 9 minutes 48.91 seconds, almost 20 seconds ahead of her nearest rival.
Belgium’s Laurence Vandewyver finished second in 10:17.77, while Switzerland’s Claire Ghiringhelli was third in 10:39.76.
The victory allowed the 25-year-old Ukrainian to retain her world title. She also became European champion in 2026.
Sheremet previously won the world and European championships in 2025. She has five European Championship medals in total.
Roman Polianskyi won another medal for Ukraine, finishing third in the men’s PR1 single sculls. He completed the race in 9 minutes 1.38 seconds.
Britain’s Benjamin Pritchard won in 8:50.46, while Australia’s Erik Horrie finished second in 8:57.27.
Ukraine’s first medal at the world championships had earlier been won by Daria Kotyk and Stanislav Samoliuk, who finished second in the mixed double sculls.
