Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine overnight on November 3, primarily targeting energy infrastructure. The attack coincided with the US midterm congressional elections, prompting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to urge America not to ignore Russia’s actions.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in a Telegram post.

Russian forces primarily targeted critical infrastructure, particularly power generation facilities and substations in the Odesa, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv and Rivne regions.

Overnight, Russia launched 289 attack drones, 17 ballistic missiles and 59 cruise missiles at Ukraine. Air raid alerts remain in effect, and the threat of further attacks persists.

The president drew attention to the fact that the massive attack took place on the day of the US congressional elections.

“It is very telling that all of this is happening on the day of the American congressional elections. The Russians believe that America will not notice this signal from them. But such terror must be recognized and stopped,” Zelenskyy stressed.

The president called on Ukraine’s partners to help protect its airspace and achieve a lasting peace.

“Ukraine must be helped to defend its skies, otherwise Russia will never stop its missile strikes. We must help build peace honestly and reliably, and America can do this,” Zelenskyy said.
