On the evening of November 2, the death toll from Russian airstrikes on Komyshuvakha in Zaporizhzhia region rose to 26. Five more injured people remain in hospital, while others are still trapped under the rubble.

This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, Russian forces struck a school building with aerial bombs in the morning. Classes were no longer being held there because of the settlement’s proximity to the front line, while the building and its shelter were being used for humanitarian work, with aid distributed to local residents every Monday.

The first strike was carried out when people had arrived to receive humanitarian aid. They then took shelter, after which Russian forces launched a second airstrike directly on the shelter.

According to Zelenskyy, most of those killed were civilians who had come to receive humanitarian aid, as well as people who arrived to help after the first strike.

The president said the Russian side knew that the site was being used for humanitarian purposes.

Rescue operations are ongoing. They are being complicated by repeated air raid alerts and the threat of further strikes.

Earlier, “Glavnoe in Ukraine” reported that the death toll from Russian airstrikes on Komyshuvakha had risen to 24. Among those killed were two rescuers and four police officers, while five more people were wounded.

According to the State Emergency Service, search-and-rescue operations at the site continued, while the threat of further attacks complicated the work.
