Over the past four days, Russia has launched nearly 1,500 drones of various types at Ukraine, around 800 of them jet-powered. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine must raise its drone interception rate above 90% this autumn.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening address.

According to him, Russia’s current tactics are aimed at exhausting Ukraine and its population through continuous drone attacks.

Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian forces are shooting down a significant share of the drones, but countering jet-powered Shaheds remains the most difficult task.

At present, Ukrainian combat aviation plays the main role in intercepting such drones.

The president said four Ukrainian companies have already developed interceptor drones designed to counter jet-powered UAVs. According to him, one company’s system is currently showing the best results.

Zelenskyy stressed that the Ministry of Defense and the military must maximize Ukraine’s capabilities to destroy all types of Russian drones.

“This autumn, we need to respond and bring the interception rate definitely above 90%,” the president said.
