On the night of 28 December 2024 (from 23:00 on 27 December), Russian occupation forces attacked Ukraine with 16 Shahed-type attack drones and other types of drones. According to the Ukrainian Air Force Command, the launches were carried out from the area of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, which is in Russia.
As of 08:30, electronic warfare units and mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces shot down 15 enemy drones in Mykolaiv region. One imitator drone was lost due to a location failure.
The falling wreckage of the downed UAVs damaged the property of a company and an apartment building in Mykolaiv. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries.
According to the State Emergency Service, two fires broke out in the Ingul district of Mykolaiv as a result of a nighttime enemy UAV attack.
Rescuers extinguished a fire on the roof of a five-storey building and a fire on a 1,000 sq m reedbed.
The roof of the building was partially destroyed and windows were smashed.
