Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian jet-powered drones damaged two kindergartens, two schools, a residential building, a service station, several warehouse facilities and communications infrastructure in Kyiv on Saturday alone. Since the previous day, Russia has used a total of 277 attack drones of various types, 155 of them jet-powered.
Zelenskyy said this in his address.
According to him, the damaged sites also included a building used as the residence of the Saudi Arabian ambassador. A sports school was damaged in the Dnipropetrovsk region, while a regional children’s home building was damaged in the Sumy region.
Zelenskyy said that, in his view, such strikes on civilian facilities show that Russia has no genuine intention to de-escalate.
The president also mentioned the sanctions and tariffs bill associated with Lindsey Graham, saying Ukraine expects it to be fully implemented and international pressure on Russia to be increased.
Zelenskyy separately announced that new sanctions packages are being prepared. According to him, they will target financial networks, supply chains for components and equipment used to manufacture Russian weapons, as well as specific companies and individuals, primarily those involved in the production of ballistic missiles.
The new sanctions, the president said, are expected to take effect as early as October.
