The Women’s and Men’s Tennis Associations, WTA and ATP, have updated their world rankings following the tournaments held from 24 February to 2 March.

The highest-rated WTA tournament this week was the competition in Merida, Mexico. Three Ukrainian women took part in the tournament: Marta Kostiuk, Angelina Kalinina and Yulia Starodubtseva. Kalinina showed the best result, reaching the second round but dropping out after losing to Australian Daria Saville.

Elina Svitolina regained the title of Ukraine’s number one as Marta Kostiuk dropped five places in the rankings after crashing out early in Merida.

Diana Yastremska, who did not take part in the tournament, also dropped two places in the rankings.

Despite her best result at the competition in Mexico, Angelina Kaliniyna failed to improve her position in the rankings, losing two places.

Meanwhile, three Ukrainian men showed progress in the world rankings. Oleksandr Ovcharenko, Ukraine’s top-ranked men’s player, moved up one place to No. 307. Oleg Prykhodko became the 316th ranked player in the world, gaining one place, and Vitaliy Sachko moved up three places to 385th.
