In his evening address on 14 July, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will take over as Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
‘Denys Shmyhal’s vast experience will definitely be useful in the position of Minister of Defence of Ukraine — it is in this area that the country’s maximum resources, maximum tasks and a great deal of responsibility are currently concentrated,’ Zelensky said, expressing his hope that this personnel proposal would be supported by the people’s deputies.
Earlier that day, Zelenskyy offered First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko to head the new Cabinet of Ministers.
The Verkhovna Rada is expected to consider the personnel changes this week: on 16 July, it is to vote on the resignation of the current government, and on 17 July, on the appointment of the new Cabinet.
