Slovakia has threatened to stop exporting electricity to Ukraine if Russian oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline are not resumed. This was reported by Denník N.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico declared a state of emergency in the oil sector after Russian oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline were halted. According to Kyiv, the transit was suspended at the end of January due to damage to infrastructure caused by Russian attacks.
At the same time, Fico, citing Slovak intelligence services, said that repairs had been completed long ago. He also accused the Ukrainian authorities of blackmailing Hungary, which is blocking Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
The Slovak prime minister warned that if the situation continues to develop, cooperation on electricity supplies could be suspended. The Slovak ambassador to Ukraine delivered an official note demanding an explanation for the suspension of oil transit.
Slovakia and Hungary remained the only EU countries that continued to receive Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
