Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynykova advanced to the third round of the 2026 French Open Roland Garros after defeating Australia’s Kimberly Birrell in three sets. The outcome of the tense match was decided by a tie-break in the final set.

In the second round of the tournament, Oliynykova defeated Birrell with a score of 2:1 (6:3, 0:6, 7:6(5)).
The Ukrainian tennis player won the first set 6:3, making two breaks. In the second set, Birrell left her opponent no chances — 6:0.
In the decisive set, the Australian was the first to make a break, but Oliynykova managed to level the score. The winner of the match was determined in a tie-break, where the Ukrainian proved stronger — 10:5.
For Oleksandra Oliynykova, this is her second victory in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament and her first advancement to the third round of Roland Garros.
In the next round, the Ukrainian will play against the winner of the match between Diana Shnaider and McCartney Kessler.
