The number of Ukrainian refugees in Poland has been declining recently. Instead of Poland, Ukrainians are increasingly choosing not only Germany but also Czechia.
This was reported by RMF24, citing Eurostat data.
In July, the number of Ukrainian citizens with temporary protection status in Poland decreased by 8,110 and stood at 953,100. In June, 6,300 Ukrainians who were using temporary protection in the EU left Poland.
In Germany, almost 1.29 million recipients of temporary protection were staying in the country in June, while in Czechia the figure was about 381,000 at the end of June. According to the outlet, Czechia is increasingly being chosen by Ukrainians who decide to leave Poland.
In July, significant numbers of Ukrainians with temporary protection were also staying in Spain — 272,300, Romania — 219,400, and Slovakia — 149,000.
Ukrainians remain the largest group among all recipients of temporary protection in the European Union. In June, more than 24,000 Ukrainian citizens applied for this status, and their share among all people covered by temporary protection stood at 98.5%.
