Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Poklad dismissed two senior SBU officials who became subjects of a NABU investigation as part of Operation Carthage. The Security Service said it is fully cooperating with all necessary procedural actions in the criminal proceedings.
The SBU reported this.
Poklad said the Security Service expects a transparent, objective and impartial investigation.
According to him, he discussed the matter with the heads of NABU and SAPO, and there is “clear and constructive cooperation” between the agencies.
The SBU chief also said he remains in contact with intelligence and security services of partner countries. According to Poklad, the Service is working to ensure that the crimes involved in the case are also investigated in other jurisdictions.
Poklad separately addressed the person known as “Mexican,” who is mentioned in the case.
“I suggest that he come to Ukraine and surrender to law enforcement. Otherwise, we will find him ourselves, wherever he may be hiding. We have experience. The SBU works and will continue to work only for Ukraine,” Poklad said.
The SBU statement did not name the two dismissed senior officials.
Earlier, “Glavnoe in Ukraine” reported that NABU detained Serhii Duka, first deputy head of the SBU Department for the Protection of National Statehood. According to Ukrainska Pravda, the detention took place amid Operation Carthage, as part of which NABU and SAPO announced the exposure of a criminal organization.
