Ukraine did propose a ceasefire to Russia that was meant to cover not only strikes but also fighting along the front line. According to Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov, the proposal was personally conveyed to Vladimir Putin, but there was no response from Russia.
This was reported by Suspilne, citing a comment by Kyrylo Budanov.
The head of the Presidential Office said the proposal concerned both a halt to strikes and the front line, but Russia did not support it.
“The drones are flying, you all saw it,” Budanov said.
Budanov also suggested that Russia may refrain from striking Kyiv during the visit of U.S. presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Ukraine, which is expected on Sunday, September 6.
As a reminder, on the night of September 5, Russia attacked Ukraine with Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and 167 drones of various types, about half of them jet-powered Shaheds. Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 128 UAVs, while missile and strike-drone impacts were recorded at 23 locations.
In Kyiv region, the attack caused a fire in Boryspil and partially destroyed a nine-story residential building. Two people were injured and 15 residents were evacuated.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces struck an industrial facility in Kamianske overnight, killing five people. In Mykolaiv, repeated attacks on an Epicentr store injured a 72-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl.
