The US has notified its allies of its intention to stop participating in military exercises in Europe. This is reported by sources of the Swedish newspaper Expressen.

According to the newspaper, this does not apply to the already planned NATO exercises. As the interlocutors of Expressen specify, we are talking about the events that are now on the ‘drawing board’ and will be held later than 2025.

Swedish journalists link this decision to the plans of the US leadership to reduce military spending in Europe and redirect funds to the Pacific region – to counter China.

On the eve, 7 March, the British newspaper Telegraph, citing its sources, wrote that the administration of Donald Trump plans to transfer its military from Germany and deploy them in Hungary.

When asked by journalists to comment on this information, Brian Hughes, head of the White House National Security Council press office, said that the US ‘always considers moving troops around the world to best meet current threats.’
