The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has officially denied information about Russian troops breaking through the border in Sumy region. The situation on the border of Sumy region with Kursk region is under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, the information disseminated in social networks about the advance of Russian units deep into the territory of Sumy region is not true.

“Russian occupants are trying to enter some settlements on the Ukrainian border in small groups. The enemy is promptly destroyed by firepower due to coordinated actions and a defense system created in advance,” the statement said.

It is reported that Ukrainian defenders are restraining the attempts of Russian troops to gain a foothold in the territory of Sumy region, causing significant losses in manpower to the enemy. The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is taking measures to strengthen the grouping of troops with equipment and reserves. The Armed Forces also continue to hold positions in the Kursk region.

The General Staff emphasized the intensification of Russian information and psychological operations aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian command and spreading panic, and called for trusting only official sources of information.

As a reminder, MP Mariana Bezuhla said that the Russians are already in Sumy region and have gone as far as “the remaining territory under our control in the Kursk region.” State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko denied the statement and explained that the situation has not changed in the areas patrolled by border guards.
