Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is ready to meet Vladimir Putin in Türkiye. He identified a full and unconditional ceasefire with a reliable monitoring mechanism as the main goal of talks between the leaders.
The president made the remarks in an interview with CNN Türk.
Zelenskyy is counting on mediation by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who maintains contact with Putin and Donald Trump. The possibility of a trilateral leaders’ meeting in Türkiye was discussed during the presidents’ talks.
Separately, the United States proposed a meeting of technical delegations from Ukraine, Russia and the US in Abu Dhabi. Zelenskyy hopes it will take place by mid-November.
The technical teams could discuss an energy and maritime ceasefire, as well as prisoner exchanges. However, he said territorial issues, security guarantees and ending the war require decisions at the leadership level.
The president stressed that Ukraine will not recognize occupied territories, including Crimea, as Russian. He also rejected the possibility of any agreement on Ukraine’s future without its participation.
As previously reported, Zelenskyy identified November 6–10 as possible dates for trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States and Russia. Preparations include discussions on halting strikes on energy infrastructure and at sea, exchanging prisoners and returning children.
