Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian families remain without electricity on November 1 following Russian strikes on energy infrastructure in four regions. Over the past week, Russia has also launched 1,940 attack drones, more than 1,580 guided aerial bombs and 44 missiles against Ukraine, most of them ballistic.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this in a statement.

Overnight into Sunday, Russian forces attacked energy infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr and Khmelnytskyi regions.

The strikes targeted substations, transformers and power transmission lines supplying electricity to residential buildings. Repair crews are working at the damaged facilities.

“Hundreds of thousands of families are still without electricity,” Zelenskyy said.

The president stressed that Russia continues to carry out large-scale attacks not only on energy facilities but also on other critical infrastructure across Ukraine.

Over the past week, Russian forces launched 1,940 attack drones, more than 1,580 guided aerial bombs and 44 missiles of various types at Ukraine. Of those missiles, 36 were ballistic.

Zelenskyy said the intensity of the attacks remains extremely high, with Russian forces seeking to exploit the shortage of missiles capable of intercepting ballistic threats.

Ukraine is discussing its need for Patriot interceptor missiles on a daily basis with the United States, European countries and other partners able to provide assistance. The United States and European countries have made new decisions on support packages for Ukraine this month. However, Zelenskyy stressed that air defence deliveries must be accelerated.

“But these deliveries cannot wait for years. Russia is destroying infrastructure and killing our people right now, and it is betting on ballistic missiles this winter. Accordingly, decisions on air defence must be implemented now,” the president said.
