President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not discuss his phone conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin with US President Donald Trump. However, the Ukrainian leader hopes to have a conversation with the American president.
This is reported by Suspilne with reference to a statement by Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a meeting with journalists.
“I expect that we will have a conversation with President Trump, we will understand the details. We have always supported the position of not attacking the energy sector with any weapons,” the president said.
According to Zelenskyy, he would like President Trump to “hear and see what Putin wants.”
“Putin wants to take several offensive actions in the Zaporizhzhia direction, in the east, in the Kharkiv and Sumy directions. Why? In order to put maximum pressure on Ukraine and then issue ultimatums from a position of strength,” Zelenskyy predicts.
As a reminder, on March 18, during a telephone conversation , Trump and Putin agreed to stop strikes on energy infrastructure, while Putin did not actually accept the US proposal for a complete ceasefire for 30 days and set conditions for a ceasefire at the front: refusal to assist Ukraine from allies, intelligence sharing, and a halt to mobilization. Earlier, President Zelenskyy said that by imposing conditions, Putin was delaying the negotiation process, in effect “preparing a refusal.”
