The American company Maxar Technologies has stopped providing satellite imagery to Ukrainian users.

This was reported by Militarnyi with reference to several customers of the service who received a notification of disconnection ‘at the administrative request’.

According to the publication, the decision is actually related to the US government’s ban on providing Ukraine with intelligence. The administration of President Donald Trump, through the State Department, has restricted access to satellite imagery for public and private Ukrainian users.

Maxar Technologies was one of the main providers of commercial satellite data to track the movement of Russian troops and assess the impact of strikes on the occupied territories and in Russia. Its images were also actively used by the world’s media to analyse the fighting.

On 5 March, it became known that the United States had suspended intelligence sharing with Ukraine. The next day, French Defence Minister Sebastian Le Coronneu said that France was ready to share its intelligence with Ukraine instead of the Americans.
