French President Emmanuel Macron said that Russia is pursuing “an escalatory path” and is not seeking peace. In a post, he strongly condemned the massive overnight missile-and-drone strikes Russia launched against Ukraine, particularly targeting its energy and railway infrastructure.

Macron stressed that Europe must continue to put pressure on Russia to compel it to pursue peace. He also announced that he will travel to London on Monday to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the UK Prime Minister and the German Chancellor to review the situation and the ongoing negotiations within the framework of US-led mediation.

According to Macron, Ukraine can count on France’s “unwavering support.” He added that efforts within the Coalition of Volunteers will continue together with the United States in order to provide Ukraine with security guarantees without which “there can be no robust and lasting peace.”

Macron emphasized that what is happening in Ukraine also determines the security of the whole of Europe.
