President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that two oil refineries on Russian territory were hit overnight on June 28. According to him, Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions” reached facilities in Russia’s Krasnodar and Yaroslavl regions.
Zelenskyy said Ukrainian soldiers had started Ukraine’s Constitution Day “very accurately.”
According to the president, the Slovyansky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region was hit. The facility is located about 300 kilometers from the front line.
Ukrainian forces also reached an oil refinery in Russia’s Yaroslavl region, Zelenskyy said. The site is located approximately 700 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.
The president stressed that Ukraine is continuing operations that weaken Russia’s ability to wage war.
“Each of our long-range sanctions means fewer resources working for Russia’s war machine and another step toward peace,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that Ukraine would continue to respond to Russian terror and thanked the soldiers for the results, as well as everyone supporting Ukraine.
“Everyone who defends Ukraine also affirms the strength of the Constitution,” the president emphasized.
Ukraine regularly strikes Russian oil infrastructure that Moscow uses to support its war machine. Oil refineries, oil depots and other fuel and energy facilities in Russia have repeatedly come under attack.
