Two drones of unknown origin were spotted near a military base in southern Estonia. One of them was shot down by allies. The incident occurred on October 17, but the wreckage of the downed target could not be found.
This was reported by ERR and Postimees, citing Liis Vaksmann, spokesperson for the Estonian Armed Forces General Staff.
“On October 17, at 4:30 p.m., allies spotted two drones flying near an infantry town, one of which was shot down with an anti-drone gun,” Vaksmann said.
Estonian military, police, and border guards tried to find the downed drone, but to no avail. Vaksmann added that the Defense Forces do not comment in detail on security-related incidents.
The Reedo military town, near which the drones were spotted, is primarily intended to house military personnel from allied countries, as well as the Estonian Defense Forces. It was opened a year ago and is now home to the 5th Squadron of the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the US Army, an armored reconnaissance unit.
We will remind you that the day before, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that his country was ready to shoot down Russian drones that violate its airspace.
