Estonia has announced an additional contribution of €100,000 to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. Switzerland has also provided about 18 tonnes of energy equipment for critical infrastructure facilities in four regions and for railway workers.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
“Estonia once again demonstrates its solidarity with Ukraine. This is the kind of support that allows us to prepare Ukraine’s energy sector for winter, address the consequences of Russian attacks and provide energy companies with everything necessary for repairs. This is a concrete contribution to our energy security and our ability to withstand,” Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established in spring 2022 in coordination with the European Commission and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine to address the consequences of Russian attacks on critical energy infrastructure. Since the fund began operating, it has received more than €2.4 billion in grant funding from 40 foreign donors from 26 partner countries and three international organizations.
Also in August, about 18 tonnes of equipment were transferred from Ministry of Energy hub warehouses, with the support of Swiss company Tetra Laval International SA, to critical infrastructure facilities in the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions.
The equipment includes diesel and gasoline generators, energy storage systems, power cables and other electrical equipment to be used for energy, heating, medical and railway infrastructure.
