On 1 July 2025, a new voltage standard was officially introduced in Ukraine’s power grids — instead of 220 V, the standard is now 230 V. The nominal voltage in sockets is 230 volts with permissible deviations from 207 to 253 volts. The transition was made to bring the Ukrainian power supply system into line with the European standard, according to Kharkivoblenergo.
Most electrical appliances imported into Ukraine are already designed to operate in a voltage range of 200 to 240–250 V. If your home has surge protection devices, it is recommended that you reconfigure them in accordance with the new standard.
As for electricity payments, the change in standard will not affect consumer bills. Charges are based on actual electricity consumption — the number of kilowatt-hours recorded by the meter. This depends on the power of your appliances, not the voltage in the grid.
