Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reacted to the overnight strikes on Russian territory and addressed residents of Moscow who were asking what was happening following the drone attacks.
“One of the most popular questions Muscovites are asking this morning is: ‘What is going on?’ I can answer. Your country started a war of aggression against ours. For years, it has been killing our people. Now that you know what is going on, ask Putin when he plans to end it,” the foreign minister wrote.
Also, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian long-range strike capabilities had reached the Moscow region for the second time in a week.
According to Zelenskyy, the Moscow Oil Refinery was struck again, along with targets in Russia’s Rostov region and in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
“A completely justified response to Russian attacks on our cities and communities, and another important result of our warriors’ work against facilities that support Russia’s war machine,” Zelenskyy said.
The president thanked the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR), and missile units for carrying out the operation.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the strikes.
According to the military, Ukrainian forces once again hit the Moscow Oil Refinery, which has an annual processing capacity of more than 12 million tons of crude oil and plays a role in supplying the Russian military.
A large fire was recorded at the facility, with at least five separate fire locations. Preliminary assessments indicate damage to a combined oil-processing unit, secondary refining installations, and a tank storage area.
In Russia’s Rostov region, Ukrainian forces also struck the Gukovo fuel depot, which is used for storing and transferring fuel and lubricants supporting Russia’s military and transportation infrastructure.
In addition, Ukrainian forces targeted a road bridge over the Kalka River near Hranitne in Donetsk region and a railway bridge across the North Crimean Canal near Rozdolne in occupied Crimea. According to the General Staff, both facilities were used to support Russian military logistics.
The Ukrainian military also reported strikes on a Russian command post near Soledar, as well as fuel storage facilities in Mariupol, Piatypillia, and near Boikivske in Donetsk region.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s long-range strike campaign received positive assessments from international partners during the G7 summit. According to him, the time has come to end the war, and Russia must take the necessary diplomatic steps toward that goal.
