Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina will not compete in the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing due to a hip injury. Her place will be taken by Magda Linette from Poland.

        This was reported by Suspilne.

The reason for Svitolina’s withdrawal was a hip injury. It is not specified when the athlete suffered the injury. It is known that the tennis player’s last match was in the semifinals of the Billie Jean King Cup against Italy’s Jasmine Paolini, in which she lost in three sets.

In Beijing, Svitolina was supposed to face the winner of the match between the 44th WTA-ranked Tatjana Maria of Germany and Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic, who is ranked 52nd in the world.

Svitolina’s place in the women’s singles draw on the WTA website will be taken by Polish tennis player Magda Linette, who received the 33rd seed.

Thus, three Ukrainian women will compete in the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing. Marta Kostyuk and Dayana Yastremska will start in the second round, while Yulia Starodubtseva will start in the first round.

After Beijing, Svitolina is scheduled to compete in other tournaments in China, including the WTA 1000 in Wuhan and the WTA 500 in Ningbo, which will take place in October.
