Marta Kostyuk won her first WTA title in three seasons, defeating fellow Ukrainian Veronika Podrez in the Rouen final. It marked the first all-Ukrainian final in the tournament’s history.

        According to Suspilne Sport.

Kostyuk entered the tournament as the top seed and confirmed her status by reaching the fifth final of her career. In the semifinals, she comfortably defeated Germany’s Tatjana Maria.

Her opponent, 19-year-old Veronika Podrez, reached the final in her debut WTA tournament. She advanced without playing the semifinal after Romania’s Sorana Cirstea withdrew due to injury.

In the final, both players traded breaks early, staying level at 3:3 before Kostyuk secured a decisive break to win the first set 6:3.

In the second set, the match remained tight, but a crucial break in the ninth game allowed Kostyuk to close the match on her serve — 6:4.

The match lasted 1 hour and 21 minutes. Kostyuk recorded 34 winners compared to 20 by Podrez, despite committing 23 unforced errors.

The title is the second of Kostyuk’s career and her first since 2023. She also ended a run of three consecutive losses in finals.

In the live WTA rankings, Kostyuk moved up from No. 28 to No. 25, while Podrez climbed from No. 209 to No. 147, breaking into the top 150 for the first time.
