Metsola said she was relieved that European Parliament staff in Ukraine were safe after the place where they were staying was hit.

She also expressed sympathy for everyone who lost loved ones in the Russian attack.

“My thoughts are with all those who lost loved ones, those who were injured, and everyone who once again was forced to spend the night under attack”, Metsola wrote.

Overnight on July 2, Russia launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine using various types of missiles and attack drones. Kyiv was the main target of the strike.

According to the latest data, at least 18 people were killed in the capital. Emergency and rescue operations are continuing at the strike sites, and rescuers are still searching for people under the rubble.
