On the night of April 15–16, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Kyiv. The attack left five people dead, including a child. Twenty-one people were injured. Among the injured were medical workers and police officers.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Damage was reported in the Podilskyi, Obolonskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Desnianskyi districts of the capital.
In the Obolonskyi district, cars were on fire, and a warehouse, a tire repair shop, and a store building were damaged. Two people were killed. Six more people were injured, including four ambulance workers and two police officers who arrived at the scene of the shelling.
In the Podilskyi district, the facades of residential buildings were destroyed by one of the strikes. At one of the locations, two bodies were found under the rubble, including a 12-year-old child. Three more people were injured by flying glass. Another strike destroyed the facades of two hotels and nearby buildings. Two people were injured.
At another address, a strike hit in front of residential buildings: facades were destroyed, doors in some buildings were blocked, and three people were injured.
Also, at another location, a single-story residential building was destroyed: two people, including a child, were rescued from the rubble.
At yet another location, a strike hit the sixth floor of a 16-story building; ten residents were evacuated. In this case, there was no fire and no casualties.
Desnianskyi District: A fire broke out in a two-story residential building. No casualties.
Shevchenkivskyi District: Strikes hit a playground and near a residential building; there were no casualties.
Rescue workers and emergency services are on the scene.
