Romanian officials said one of the drones entered the country’s airspace and was tracked by radar systems to the southern area of Galați.

The drone crashed into a residential apartment building, causing a fire.

Specialized teams from the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Romanian Intelligence Service, and the police are working at the scene.

The ministry also reported that radar systems detected several drones operating near Romanian airspace.

At 1:19 a.m., two F-16 fighter jets on Air Policing duty were scrambled from the Fetești Air Base.

An IAR 330 SOCAT helicopter of the Romanian Air Force also participated in the operation.

The pilots were authorized to engage targets throughout the entire alert period.

Authorities issued RO-Alert warnings to residents of Tulcea, Galați, and Brăila counties.

Romania’s Ministry of Defence said the situation remains dynamic and that additional official information will be released as it becomes available.
