President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian intelligence has information indicating that Russia is preparing a new large-scale strike against Ukrainian cities and communities. He called on international partners to accelerate deliveries of air defense systems, particularly anti-ballistic capabilities.

The statement came after a phone call with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker.

According to Zelenskyy, he informed the Austrian leader about intelligence findings suggesting that Russia is preparing another major attack.

“It is very important that there are joint responses from our partners to these attacks, first and foremost through the supply of anti-ballistic systems,” the president said.

Zelenskyy stressed that Russia continues to rely on missile strikes and the continuation of the war rather than diplomatic efforts.

“We have intelligence indicating that Russia is preparing a new massive strike. It is important that all our partners understand what is happening and that Russia continues to rely on missiles and further warfare rather than diplomatic steps,” he said.

The president added that this underscores the need for stronger sanctions pressure on Russia and the prompt implementation of agreements with partners on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.

Zelenskyy also said that he and Stocker discussed Ukraine’s European integration process in detail.

According to him, Kyiv expects the first EU accession negotiation cluster to be opened in June.

“This is fair. Ukrainians deserve it. I thank Austria for fully sharing this position,” Zelenskyy said.

The two leaders also discussed cooperation within international organizations. Zelenskyy noted that he had instructed Ukraine’s diplomatic team to coordinate relevant issues with Austrian counterparts.

In addition, the president said he discussed with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha the next steps needed to strengthen Ukraine’s defense and prepare new sanctions proposals for the European Union.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is preparing detailed proposals for a new EU sanctions package, as well as additional measures aimed at preventing the circumvention of existing sanctions.
