An oil refinery in Perm, Russia, has completely halted oil processing following a drone attack on May 7. According to Reuters, the strike caused a fire and damaged the facility’s equipment.
Reuters reports this, citing two industry sources.
It has been reported that following the attack by Ukrainian UAVs on the refinery in Perm, three primary oil refining units were immediately shut down. Some secondary refining units also ceased operations.
Perm Krai Governor Dmitry Makhonin previously stated that Ukrainian drones had attacked industrial facilities in the region, which is located approximately 1,460 kilometers east of Moscow. He did not specify the name of the facility.
According to sources, one of the units — CDU-4 — had been out of operation since April 30 following a previous drone attack. Repairs to the damaged equipment could take several weeks.
The Perm refinery is owned by Lukoil. In 2024, the facility processed approximately 12.6 million tons of crude oil, or 250,000 barrels per day. The plant produced 2 million tons of gasoline, 5.3 million tons of diesel fuel, 700,000 tons of coke, and 200,000 tons of fuel oil.
