Apple has officially released iOS 26 — the latest update to its iPhone operating system, available to users starting September 15, 2025.
What’s new
iOS 26 features a fresh Liquid Glass design with transparent elements and updated buttons. The interface feels more “alive,” allowing users to partially see what’s behind menus and widgets.
Core apps like Phone and Messages have also been updated. Users now get advanced call and message filtering to help reduce distractions.
Apple has further integrated Apple Intelligence capabilities. One highlight is Live Translation — real-time translation during calls, video calls, and text messages.
Supported iPhones
The update is available for:
- iPhone 11 and newer;
- iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later.
Not supported: iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max. Apple explained the decision by pointing to hardware limitations — older processors and less memory prevent full functionality of the new features.
Owners of older iPhones will miss out on the latest features, while users with compatible models are encouraged to update in order to benefit from improved security, a refreshed interface, and AI-powered tools.
