The President of Ukraine shared details of the counteroffensive operation in Donetsk Oblast, which is currently underway in the Pokrovsk and Dobropillia areas. 160 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory have been liberated, and hundreds of occupiers have been added to the exchange fund.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in a video address.
Since the start of the operation, 160 square kilometers have been liberated, more than 170 square kilometers have been cleared of occupiers, and nearly a hundred enemies are already in the exchange fund.
“We are currently carrying out one of our counteroffensive operations — the guys are doing a great job — in the Donetsk direction, in the Pokrovsk area, in the Dobropillia area. The fighting is fierce, but we have managed to inflict significant losses on the Russians,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are depriving the occupiers of the opportunity to carry out a full-scale offensive operation in this direction, which they had been planning for a long time and were counting on.
“We have significantly replenished our exchange fund – there are already almost a hundred Russian prisoners, and there will be more. The losses of the Russians since the beginning of our counteroffensive operation, only in the Pokrovsk area, only in recent weeks, have already exceeded two and a half thousand, of which more than 1,300 Russians have been killed,” the statement said.
The president thanked the Airborne Forces, assault regiments and battalions, all infantrymen, scouts, artillerymen, National Guard units, and those who provide unmanned aerial vehicles. Zelenskyy awarded state decorations to soldiers for their successes in battle.
