The President said that this week he expects the EU to decide to increase pressure on Russia, in particular by adopting the 19th package of sanctions, which should have a painful impact on energy trade and the infrastructure of the Russian tanker fleet.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the priority is to limit Russia’s ability to export oil and petroleum products through sanctions targeting all tanker logistics.
He also referred to intelligence data according to which the Russians are using tankers to launch and control drones used against European countries. In this context, the head of state stressed that the Baltic Sea and other sea areas should be closed to Russian tankers, at least to the ‘shadow fleet.’
