Talks between the Ukrainian delegation and the US side have begun in the United States to discuss further steps toward achieving peace. The Ukrainian side reports a substantive dialogue and clear directives focused on protecting national interests.
According to National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, the Ukrainian delegation remains in constant contact with the President of Ukraine and is working on the basis of the groundwork achieved in Geneva. He stated that the goal is “real peace for Ukraine and guaranteed security,” and that the delegation will report to the President following the day’s meetings.
In a statement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio before the start of the talks, he noted that the discussions concern not only ending the war but also creating a mechanism that will prevent future aggression against Ukraine. Rubio stressed that Ukraine has significant economic potential and described the current stage as “halfway toward ensuring Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence.”
