On October 6, a Russian drone attacked a commercial vessel sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands in the Black Sea. The ship was carrying rapeseed oil. One crew member was killed and seven other people were injured.
The attack was reported by the Shipping Administration and head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleh Kiper.
The vessel was damaged in the strike and a fire broke out in the superstructure area.
The Shipping Administration said the crew member who was killed was a steward.
“By deliberately striking civilian shipping and port infrastructure, Russia is grossly violating international law and creating a threat to global food security,” Kiper wrote.
