At the first stage of the optimization, more than 4,000 vacant positions in central executive bodies are expected to be cut. The number of deputy ministers is also set to be reduced by approximately 20%, while the number of deputy heads of other central executive bodies will be cut by nearly 18%.
This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi.
According to Koretskyi, a key stage will be a functional review of the state apparatus. The government will assess what functions state bodies perform and whether they correspond to the country’s current realities and priorities.
Only after that will the final structure and staffing levels be determined. The number of deputy heads of government bodies is expected to be linked to the actual scope of their responsibilities.
Another area of reform will be changes to the training system for civil servants, with training to be tied to the tasks of specific positions.
Information and internship programs are planned for young people. A separate program for veterans is also envisaged.
Koretskyi said that the Council on Public Administration has already resumed its work with the participation of government officials, lawmakers and experts. A detailed plan of changes was presented at its meeting, and those responsible for each area were designated.
The prime minister said the goal of the changes is to create a professional state apparatus capable of carrying out assigned tasks quickly and effectively.
