President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed to prepare sanctions against the Georgian government. Zelensky said this in his evening address.
“Today’s government in Georgia is pushing the country to an obvious dependence on Russia. It is simply shameful what they are doing against their own people. And when Moscow praises this government in Georgia, it clearly outlines who they are working for in Tbilisi and for whom they are dispersing protests,” the president emphasized.
Zelenskyy noted that in response to these actions, Ukraine is preparing a “legal response” and is working with Europeans and other partners on specific actions.
I have instructed to prepare appropriate sanctions decisions,” the president added.
Georgia is currently experiencing protests that began on November 28 after the authorities announced that they were abandoning negotiations on joining the European Union by the end of 2028. Demonstrators gather daily near the parliament in Tbilisi, and police disperse protesters daily, including with the use of special means.
